Life in El Salvador happier than life in US

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel ran a story pointing out the results of the World Values Survey ranking countries by the subjective perceptions of well-being of their populations. The World Values Survey is a large social science research project coordinated out of the University of Michigan. According to the study, people in El Salvador were 12th happiest among 82 countries, while those in the United States were 15th happiest. According to the study, being Latino seems to be linked to happiness, all 10 Latin American countries in the survey (except Peru) rank high or medium-high, and so does high income, all 28 high-income countries rank high or medium-high on subjective well-being.

The happiest people in the world? Those living in Puerto Rico.
